key #1: the tools

ONE POWERFUL APP IS ALL ANYONE NEEDS

Imagine 100 people, launching their own fundraising campaign for the same nonprofit and sharing it with their networks – at the same time. And the nonprofit itself doesn’t have to lift a finger. That’s powerful stuff.

With Givio, anyone can launch a fundraiser or matching gift campaign, in just seconds. There is no training necessary, and registration couldn’t be simpler (no invasive personal information required).

Every IRS approved 501c3 nonprofit in the country is in the Givio app, including charities, schools, religious organizations and Native American Nations and that includes yours. Just look up your nonprofit using the search bar. Can’t find it? Let us know and we’ll get it sorted.

Your Givio listing can include your nonprofit’s logo, cover image, description, contact information and even your Instagram feed. So you’ll want to make sure your nonprofit’s listing already has the appropriate branding in place. Find it in the Givio app, and if it’s not already branded, submit a nonprofit branding request. We’ll take care of it for you within 2 business days or less.

People give to people. So each fundraiser displays the registered name of the person or organization that launched it. Adding a Matching Gift sponsor (either named or anonymous) is a snap, too.

Givio fundraisers make payment quick and easy, reducing cart abandonment. Credit card processing through Stripe offers the fastest checkout process possible. And for donors with the Givio mobile app already on their phone there are added options to pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, Venmo and even cryptocurrency.

Givio disburses all donations monthly. Because we do the payment processing and batching for you, you get to save time and money. Have a large crowdfunding campaign that requires more frequent disbursements? Let us know. Bi-monthly disbursements can be arranged for nonprofits that reach a high threshold.

Every nonprofit receiving funds from Givio has their own secure data link that gets updated along with disbursements. With Givio, donors have the choice to make their donations anonymous. It’s one more way we eliminate the barriers to giving. If your donors do choose to share their information with you, you’ll receive their first name, last name, email address and, if included, their gift message.

YOUR PEOPLE + YOUR PEOPLE’S PEOPLE

For every supporter you’ve won over there are more like them lingering within an untapped network. A single donor equipped with the right crowdfunding tools can turn one donation into 5, 10 or even 100.

But your crowd doesn’t just include people already donating to your cause. It also includes people and groups whose values align with your mission. Think about all the local schools, businesses and associations that have an interest in your cause. Some even have a direct imperative to give back to their community. Being a part of your crowdfunding movement could be the most efficient and effective way they can reach their community goals.

Nothing gets people motivated like a friendly little competition. Promote a crowdfunding contest for the highest number of donations, or most amount raised — or both. You can even partner with local businesses for Gift Cards for the winners.

Student groups, faculty and clubs at local high schools and colleges all have goals for community impact.

Local businesses are an excellent source of support — especially when you make it EASY for them. Suggest they implement that friendly competition idea between departments. Department A vs. Department B — each launching their own fundraiser for your cause, where each employee shares it with their network. They can even get their customers and partners involved.

GIVE THEM WHAT THEY NEED TO TAKE ACTION

You’ll want to invite all your supporters to join your crowdfunding efforts via all the communication channels you have at your disposal, of course. But you can also provide them with links to download the Givio app, pre-formatted cover images, video links and stories that your supporters can include in their crowdfunding campaigns.

Make it easy for your supporters to find more ways to help with a prominent link on your home page. Ideally this will live in your top navigation, but it can also be a button on each page.

Make taking action as easy as 1, 2, 3 with all the instructions and links your supporters need to get started right away. Share success stories of other crowdfunding efforts and link to other crowdfunding campaigns.

Your gratitude and acknowledgement contributes so much to your supporters positive experience. They’ll get a sense of satisfaction knowing they’re helping the mission, but a direct “thank you” helps them feel like they’re an integral part of something bigger – and they are.

Partner with local businesses to offer special rewards, post success stories and acknowledge them in your regular newsletters / blogs.
